Nutsa’maat Sqwalawun - One Heart, One Mind, One Voice, One Heart
Cowichan Performing Arts Centre, 2687 James St,
Duncan, Capital RD

Lila Music Centre & Cowichan Performing Arts Centre present Nutsa’maat Sqwalawun: One Heart, One Mind, One Voice, One Heart.

This is a powerful intergenerational performance rooted in Reconcili-Action and cultural truth-telling. It brings together Indigenous and settler artists, Elders, youth, musicians, dancers, and storytellers. Through music, movement, and improvisation, the work creates space for honest cultural sharing and concludes with a community talk on racism and reconciliation, led by Elder Robert George (Qwiyahwultu’hw).

This project moves towards One Heart, One Mind, through music, story, and presence — holding space for both the beauty and the challenge of this work. Because real reconciliation asks us to face what is not yet healed or commonly seen, and to keep showing up — with open hearts, open minds, and open voices.

Following the performance, Elder Robert George will speak to the audience about racism, resistance, and reconciliation, followed by an open Q&A.
