After a five-year hiatus, one of Vancouver Island’s most cherished summer traditions made a triumphant return to Victoria’s Inner Harbour this weekend. Symphony Splash, presented by the Victoria Symphony, once again transformed the downtown waterfront into a celebration of music and community on August 2 and 3. The free event drew thousands by land and sea for two nights of unforgettable performances — all set against the city’s iconic harbour backdrop.
This year’s edition held added significance as the Victoria Symphony celebrates its 85th anniversary season. The milestone was marked with a special lineup that included the Victoria Symphony, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and a range of Indigenous and community artists.
“Eighty‑five years ago... Today, it’s about honouring that vision while making music relevant for our time,” said Christian Kluxen, Music Director of the Victoria Symphony.
The festival concluded Sunday evening with a vibrant fireworks display over the Inner Harbour, greeted by cheers from thousands of spectators lining the waterfront.
Victoria sounded like a Symphony Splash
