The simultaneous invasion of Vikings and pirates on the Saanich Peninsula, which took place over the last weekend of summer, reached its peak in the fields of Iroquois Park in Sidney. Two worlds came together in a battle that lasted two days.

The band Bilgewater opened the second day, lifting spirits with their shanties. Anti-Gravity Circus responded with a barrage of tricks. In response, lady pirate La Yeni’s mystical harp transported those present into the world of Celtic folklore. And in a moment, another transformation took place — Alea Bellydance enchanted the audience with her dance, filling the venue with an Andalusian spirit. Until the melodies of Clanna Morna took the initiative.

And then came the decisive moment — Pirates vs. Vikings Tug-of-War Battle!

The pirates celebrated their victory, but the Vikings promised to return in a year — to try once again to conquer the northern outskirts of Greater Victoria.
