The Saanich Fairgrounds once again drew thousands of visitors over Labour Day weekend as the Saanich Fair. Canada’s oldest continuous agricultural fair, running since 1868 celebrated its 157th year.
Thousands of visitors wandered the midway, barns, and exhibition halls, taking in the full flavour of island life: prize-winning produce, livestock competitions, homemade preserves, carnival rides, live music, and all the fair food favourites.
On the Saddleback Stage, this year’s headliners kept the energy high — with Jump, a fiery Van Halen tribute, rocking Saturday night, and Canadian rock staples The Trews closing out Sunday with a powerful set as the sun dipped behind the fairgrounds.
From the ferris wheel lights to that golden Sunday sunset, the Saanich Fair once again brought the community together for a perfect Island weekend.
