Selkirk Trestle
Galloping Goose Trail,
Victoria, Capital RD

The Selkirk Trestle is a historic wooden railway bridge in Victoria, British Columbia. Spanning 302 meters (approximately 991 feet) over the Gorge Waterway, it connects the neighborhoods of Burnside-Gorge and Victoria West. Built in 1917 for the Canadian Northern Railway (later part of Canadian National Railway), it originally carried freight, including forest products, to industrial areas in Victoria. The bridge features a rare Scherzer rolling lift (bascule) span, approximately 37 meters long. It was traditionally hand-operated to allow tall vessels to pass through the Selkirk Arm of the Gorge Waterway.

After rail service ended in January 1990, the trestle was restored and officially reopened in 1996 as a key link in the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. It now serves as a major pedestrian and cycling corridor.
