✮ ✮ ✮

Just an eight-minute drive from downtown Victoria, Ross Bay Pebbles Beach is easily accessible from the Dallas Road walkway.

This beach plays a crucial role in preserving the historic Ross Bay Cemetery. Located along Victoria’s south coast, the Ross Bay seawall, now part of the beach, was built in 1911 to protect the cemetery from coastal erosion caused by powerful waves. Interestingly, the beach itself was artificially enhanced — in the 1990s, nearly 80,000 tonnes of gravel were placed in front of the seawall to raise the beach level and reinforce the shoreline.

Today, the waters near Ross Bay Pebbles Beach are a popular spot for surfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking.
