Muir Creek Beach is another beautiful spot to experience the wild charm of the west coast. Located just west of Sooke along Highway 14, the area is also rich in history. Named after the pioneering Muir family, it still contains remnants of 19th-century logging skids and early settlement structures.
From the small gravel parking lot just before the Muir Creek bridge, a hard-packed dirt path leads you to the beach, passing through the Orveas Bay estuary on the west side of the creek.
Families often visit for the peaceful setting and the chance to enjoy some shoreline fishing. However, be cautious — wildlife such as bears and cougars are occasionally seen in the area, so stay alert and follow local safety guidelines.
Difficulty: Easy.
Parking: Small gravel lot just before the Muir Creek bridge.
