Sombrio Beach is one of Vancouver Island’s most iconic coastal spots — known for its surf, hidden waterfall, and rugged beauty. Part of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, the beach draws surfers, hikers, and nature lovers year-round.

Just a short walk east along the shoreline hides Sombrio’s secret waterfall. To find it, turn left (east) upon reaching the beach. As you walk along the shoreline, you'll navigate sections with rocks, driftwood, and possibly seaweed. Continue eastward until you spot a small creek flowing into the ocean, marked by large driftwood. This creek serves as the entrance to the waterfall area, leading you to the hidden falls within a short walk.

Sombrio Beach and its waterfalls are an easy day-trip destination from Victoria, as well as a popular backcountry camping spot.
