Tucked away in the forests near Courtenay, Brown’s River Falls — is a spectacular spot where the river cascades into smooth, natural pools. In summer, the crystal-clear water makes it a favorite for summer cooling off.

Getting there is part of the adventure. The quickest access is from Piercy Road near the power lines. After a short walk through an open area and a pleasant forest trail, a steep descent leads down to the riverbank. The trail isn’t marked, but ropes are in place in some sections to help with the climb. Good footwear is a must, and the hike is best suited for those comfortable with uneven, steep terrain.

The best time to visit is between July and October, when water levels are lower and swimming is safer and more enjoyable.
