Mount Wells is a forested hill and popular viewpoint in Mount Wells Regional Park, located west of Langford. Despite its modest elevation, the summit offers wide-open views of the Juan de Fuca Strait, the Olympic Mountains, and on very clear days, even Mount Baker to the east.
The most direct route to the summit is the Summit Trail, which begins at Mount Wells Regional Park – Main Parking Lot and provides immediate access to the park’s trail network. This same parking lot also serves as a main access point for the neighbouring Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park, making it a convenient starting location for multiple hikes.
Mount Wells’ in-city location makes it a favourite for short but challenging hikes. Several sections are steep and rocky, especially near the summit, and the trail is often used by hikers looking for a quick cardio workout, as well as dog-friendly walking close to town.
