The Westcoast Sooke 10K is one stop in the annual Vancouver Island Race Series calendar, which features several road races across the region. The series dates back to the early 1980s and remains one of the most recognized running traditions on Vanisland.
The race route follows the scenic corridor leading toward Sooke Potholes Regional Park, one of the area’s most popular natural attractions. Located about 40 minutes west of Victoria, Sooke is known for its rugged coastline, rainforest trails, and outdoor adventure opportunities. So, for many participants, the event is also a great excuse to spend the day exploring the region.
Before the main race begins, younger athletes take part in Kids’ Super Day, a 1-kilometre fun run designed for children up to 12 years old. The kids’ race starts shortly before the main 10K, creating a lively and family-friendly atmosphere.
The race begins and ends at Edward Milne Community School and follows a gently rolling route along Sooke River Road, surrounded by forest and fresh coastal air. This year, Vanisland.Life is also joining the race. We invite you to join as well.
