Billings Spit is a narrow gravel and sand spit located in Sooke where the river meets the Salish Sea, separating Sooke Harbour from the calm Sooke Basin. Stretching into the waters of the Sooke Basin, the area is known for its calm shoreline, good fishing spots, and expansive views across the surrounding coastal landscape.

To get there, turn south off Highway 14 onto Kaltasin Road. Roadside parking can be found where Kaltasin meets Billings Road, right next to Kaltasin Park. Space can be a bit tight, so please park carefully on the pavement.

For the best experience, visit at low tide when the water pulls back significantly. This uncovers vast gravel flats and clam beds, allowing you to walk far out onto the spit and comfortably explore the scenic shoreline where river otters frequently play. Calm conditions in the basin also make it a common launch point for paddleboards and kayaks.
