✮ ✮ ✮ ✮

Beechey Head is one of the best viewpoints in East Sooke Regional Park. It’s believed to be named after Captain Frederick William Beechey, a British explorer who mapped parts of this coastline back in the early 1800s.

You can reach Beechey Head by hiking along the Coast Trail — a stunning route that winds through shady forest, along rugged shoreline, and over open cliffs. It’s a bit of a workout, with some rocky and steep sections, but the views at the top are totally worth it!

From the headland, you’ll see sweeping ocean views across the Juan de Fuca Strait, with the Olympic Mountains rising in the distance. It’s a great spot to take a break, enjoy the scenery, and maybe even spot whales or seals — so bring your binoculars!

Make sure to check out the nearby ancient petroglyphs at Alldridge Point while you’re there. They’re just a short detour from the main trail and add a unique cultural touch to your adventure.
