Once this place was called Foul Point. It was changed to Harling Point on November 6, 1934, to commemorate the heroic act of Dr. Fred Harling, who died on January 15, 1934, while saving two people from drowning near this point.

Harling Point is a rocky coastal headland located along Dallas Road at the eastern edge of Victoria, near Oak Bay. The area is known for strong coastal winds and waves during winter storms, making it a favourite location for storm watching.

Harling Point is also home to the historic Chinese Cemetery, a National Historic Site that reflects the history of Victoria’s early Chinese community.
