Juan de Fuca Marine Trail

The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is a moderately difficult, rugged 47-kilometre (29-mile) wilderness hiking route located within Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, along the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island. The trail stretches from China Beach, 35 kilometres (22 miles) west of Sooke, to Botanical Beach, just outside Port Renfrew. The trail can be enjoyed in sections as a day hike or completed in its entirety over four to six days. No reservations are required, but a symbolic backcountry camping fee applies. Hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the coastline, the Juan de Fuca Strait, and the Olympic Mountains from various points along this lush rainforest path. While spotting a pod of whales is a rare treat, sightings of sea lions, bald eagles, herons, and other wildlife are common.
