McNeill Bay (also known as Shoal Bay) lies within the boundaries of Oak Bay along Beach Drive. A paved waterfront path along Beach Drive makes access easy and suitable for casual strolls. Benches and open viewpoints provide places to sit and enjoy the ocean scenery, and it is also a popular spot for storm watching, even from the comfort of your car.
The bay faces south toward the Olympic Mountains, with clear views of the Trial Islands and passing marine traffic. The shoreline is primarily rocky, with driftwood and tide pools visible at lower tides. It is also part of the broader Victoria Harbour Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
