Snowbirds return to VanIsle skies
CAF Snowbirds

Get ready to look skyward this summer – Canada’s iconic CF Snowbirds are making two exciting appearances on Vancouver Island, with a flyover in Victoria and full airshows in Nanaimo.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, officially known as 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, are one of Canada’s most cherished national symbols. Based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the team has performed across North America since their first official season in 1971. The team’s legacy stretches back to the original No. 431 Squadron served in WWII as a bomber unit before being reborn as an aerobatic squadron.

Victoria: Snowbirds Flyover Set for July

On Tuesday, July 22, Victorians will be treated to a non-aerobatic flyover by the Snowbirds’ signature nine-jet formation. While not a full airshow, the display promises a spectacular pass across the city’s skyline. The team shared the announcement on social media, encouraging people to “scope out your favourite vantage point” and prepare for a unique aerial treat. Exact timing and flight paths will be released closer to the date.

Nanaimo: Full Airshows Coming This August

Later this summer, the Snowbirds will arrive in Nanaimo for their first full airshows in six years — continuing the story. Two official performances are scheduled: Friday, August 15 – Evening show Saturday, August 16 – Afternoon show The airshows will take place over Nanaimo’s inner harbour, with viewing opportunities from Maffeo Sutton Park.
